No smoking or alcohol in the show hall.
Well behaved children are welcome, but please be considerate of your fellow hobbyists.
ase keep your children near you and under control at all times.
Parents will be held responsible for any damage caused by their children.
Class limits: NO class limits for breed classes. One breed class per horse, please. Please read the rules for the collectability classes. Realistic color classes have a limit of 4 horses per entrant per class.
There is mini division for stablemate and Little Bit models, and classic and traditional models show in the other division. NO cross entering between divisions!
Tags: Each model should be tagged with a white string tag. Please type or write legibly. One side of the tag should have the model’s name, breed and gender and your Colorado shower number. NO owner name or initials, please. Use only one side of the tag, tags will NOT be turned over. This saves time and the possibility of bumping and knocking over any horses.
Please place model in the judging ring with the written side of the tag facing up.
If you do not have a Colorado shower number, please contact Heather Roell at [email protected]. She will assign a number to you. These numbers are kept in a database and are good from year to year. They are being used at most (or all) Colorado shows.
Explanation card/documentation is highly recommended for unusual or rare breeds or colors.
Explanation card and/or documentation is REQUIRED for ALL collectibility classes! This can be the COA (certif of authenticity) or anything that came with the model, or a 3 x 5 card with the info written on it. This can include the model name, year(s) produced, number of models produced, etc. Any info you can provide for the judge is helpful. If you don’t know what it is (for example, some unknown test model), explain that on a 3 x 5 card, with any info you do know (where you got it, etc). Maybe someone can identify your horse!
Breakable or unsteady models may be laid on a towel, bubble wrap, or felt square, etc. Please keep the padding to a minimum size needed to protect the model. Laying a model on its side gives the judge permission to pick up the model to examine the other side. If you do not want the judge to pick up your model, please put a note by the model or talk to the judge before the start of the class. Remember, laying a model on its side implies permission for the judge to pick up the model.
Fantasy equines are now allowed in NAN classes, per NAMHSA rule change in May 2013!! They may show in the appropriate fantasy class in collectibility only, NOT in breed. Only equine based unicorns , pegasi/winged horses (including thestrals) or a combination of the two are allowed. Please see below for NAMHSA rules regarding what is allowed in fantasy classes.
No setups (doll handlers, sand arenas, etc) will be allowed in breed classes, due to space and time limitations.
Horses may wear a breed-appropriate halter, but these will not necessarily be given preference in judging. Be aware that ill-fitting or inappropriate halters may actually count against the horse. It is the judge’s discretion in considering any halter.
Please refrain from talking to the judges while they are judging. The judges will be happy to explain their placings after the class if you ask nicely. Judges’ decisions are final. Please be polite and remember that you are paying for their opinion (even if you don’t agree with it).
Never touch or pick up a model without the owner’s explicit permission. In addition, please be aware of your surroundings. Accidents do happen but be careful so you aren’t the cause of one. If you break or damage an item on someone else’s table, be prepared to pay for it.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, harassment of judges and/or show staff, or offensive behavior or language will NOT be tolerated. Anyone exhibiting these behaviors will be ejected from the show hall without a refund.
This show is open to original finish plastic Breyer models and other OF plastic models, except Stone horses. No plastic Stone horses and no Breyer porcelain/resin models, please. They may show at the Aug. 15 Red Devil Live OF China/Resin and OF Stone show.
DEFINITION OF ORIGINAL FINISH
An original finish (OF) model is a model manufactured by a factory and that is in its original state. Models may be repaired or restored to their original state, but keep in mind that a judge may penalize any visible repairs at her discretion. Major alterations will disqualify the model from the Original Finish divisions. Such alterations include, but are not limited to: added gloss on eyes, hooves, or any other part of the model; added, “improved”, or altered markings; or any substance applied to change or enhance the original color or texture of the model. Any of these alterations will disqualify a model from competing in the OF divisions and require it to be shown as a Custom.
FANTASY CLASSES
NAMHSA allows only unicorns, pegasi/winged horses (including thestrals) or a combination of the two. For NAMHSA/NAN qualifying purposes, a "unicorn" is defined as an equine with a single horn attached at or near the forehead. A "pegasus" is defined as an equine with wings attached at or near the shoulders. Wings can be of any type found in nature, and will not be limited to bird-like only. Whether or not it looks as though the animal can fly will not be a stated criteria for judging. These are imaginary creatures, after all, and, just as there are flightless birds, so, too, can there be flightless winged equines.
Eligible animals will basically be equine in nature, with an equine head, neck, body, and legs. Goat-based or half-equine creatures will not be eligible. The head and body must remain equine in form. Hooves can be equine or cloven, tails can be of any type, and extra hair, scales, feathers, or other textures on the head and/or body are permitted, so long as the head and body are still equine in form. Bodies may be skeletal in nature, as long as the skeleton portrayed is equine in form. Sculptures can be realistically colored or decorators. The base equine can be any equine - horse, pony, donkey, mule, zebra - of any breed type, with no stated preference given to one type over the other.
OF models will be judged based on collectibility criteria.
